FREE $100 GOLDEN CORRAL GIFT CARD SWEEPSTAKES

Official Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE ODDS OF WINNING. ODDS OF WINNING DEPEND ON THE TOTAL NUMBER OF ELIGIBLE ENTRIES RECEIVED BY THE END OF THE SWEEPSTAKES PERIOD. 

TO ENTER MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE AND A LEGAL RESIDENT OF ANY OF THE 50 STATES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (INCL. DC). LIMIT OF ONE ENTRY PER PERSON. 

The FREE $100 Golden Corral Gift Card Sweepstakes begins at 12:00 AM Eastern Time (ET) on 6/17/2021 and ends at 11:59 PM ET on 6/30/2021 (“Sweepstakes Period”). 

SWEEPSTAKES DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of the FREE $100 Golden Corral Gift Card Sweepstakes is to invite individuals who meet certain eligibility requirement to provide feedback about Golden Corral through online surveys for a chance to win a $100 Golden Corral Gift Card as described in these Official Rules.

HOW TO ENTER: There are two (2) ways to enter the Sweepstakes. LIMIT ONE ENTRY PER PERSON REGARDLESS OF ENTRY METHOD.

  1. ENTER VIA SURVEY EMAIL LINK: During the Submission Period, complete a survey via the email link and submit an official entry by completing a short entry form.
  2. ENTER VIA MAIL: Send a 3″ x 5″ card or piece of paper hand printed with your first name, last name, date of birth, street address, city, state, zip code, and email address to: Golden Corral Corporation, Free Golden Corral Gift Card Sweepstakes, 5400 Trinity Road, Suite 309, Raleigh, NC 27607, to be postmarked by June 30, 2021 and received by July 15, 2021. Each card or piece of paper must be mailed individually. No photocopies, facsimiles or mechanical reproductions of cards or pieces of paper permitted. No metered mail will be accepted. No responsibility is assumed by Sponsor for lost, late, illegible, incomplete, stolen, postage-due or misdirected mail. 

In Entries, all logos and other material that may be protected by trademark, copyright, privacy or other applicable laws or regulations must be covered. All material submitted to Sponsor in connection with this Sweepstakes shall be referred to herein as the “Entry”, and the person submitting the Entry shall be referred to herein as the “Entrant”. Entries deemed inappropriate or unsuitable, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, will be disqualified. 

PRIZE DESCRIPTION: One (1), $100 Golden Corral gift card.

GRAND PRIZE WINNER: The Grand Prize Winner will be selected randomly from all entrants. Whether or not any entries are valid will be within Sponsor’s sole discretion, and Sponsor reserves the right to award the grand prize regardless of the outcome of the random drawing. The Grand Prize Winner will be awarded One (1), $100 Golden Corral gift card. The Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of the Grand Prize is $100.

NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS:  1 GRAND PRIZE: One (1), $100 Golden Corral gift card. One Entrant, selected randomly, will be named Grand Prize winner (as determined by Sponsor). The Grand Prize Winner will be notified by e-mail, on or about 07/31/2021.

SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Correspondence and inquiries concerning the Sweepstakes will not be accepted, acknowledged, or returned.

Entries will not be acknowledged or returned.

Entries cannot violate any federal, state or local law, rule or regulation. In addition, Entries must not violate or infringe upon any third party’s rights, including without limitation copyright, patent or trademarks/trade names/logos, trademark rights, privacy rights (including portrayal in a false light), publicity rights, or other intellectual property rights. Entries cannot contain materials that infringe on the rights of others (including videos, sculptures, paintings and other works of art or images published on or in websites, television, or movies or other media).

Entries must be submitted directly by the Entrant.

Any Entry, in the sole opinion of the Sponsor, considered to contain dangerous, harmful or objectionable content, or deemed to be inappropriate for publication, will be deemed ineligible.

Entries will undergo screening to ensure that they meet the guidelines and requirements set forth in these Official Rules. Sponsor has the sole discretion to determine whether an Entry is eligible. In the event Sponsor, at its sole discretion, determines that any Entry contains content that does not comply with these Official Rules or does not otherwise comply with any applicable law, Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify the Entry or, if Sponsor determines, edit the content of the Entry. Any Entry that violates this section or is otherwise objectionable (as determined solely by Sponsor) will not be considered and will be disqualified. Automated, script, macro or robotic Entries will be disqualified.

LICENSE OF RIGHTS: By submitting an Entry, Entrant hereby grants and irrevocably assigns to Sponsor exclusive irrevocable, perpetual, and worldwide right, title and interest in and to the Entry. This includes all rights to reproduce, publish, edit, market, store, adapt, assign, sell, dispose of, distribute, have distributed, publicly and privately display, communicate, publicly and privately perform, transmit, have transmitted, create derivative works based upon, and promote the Entry or excerpts of the Entry (as such may be edited and modified by the Sponsor at its discretion) in perpetuity, for editorial, commercial, promotional and all other purposes (including posting on Sponsor-affiliated websites, and/or other Sponsor-selected media). Entrant hereby disclaims any rights, including any copyright or any other intellectual property right, in or to the Entry following the assignment contemplated hereby.

CONDITIONS OF AWARD: Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize for an item of equal or greater value in the event all or part of a prize becomes unavailable. Prizes are awarded without warranty of any kind from Sponsor, express or implied, without limitation, except where this would be contrary to federal, state, provincial, or local law or regulation. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. Submission of an Entry into this Sweepstakes deems that Entrants agree to be bound by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of Sponsor, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Sweepstakes. Return of any prize/prize notification may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate Winner. Any potential Winner who cannot be contacted within 15 days of the first attempted notification will forfeit his/her prize, and an alternate may be selected. Potential prize Winner(s) may be required to sign and return a Declaration of Eligibility/Liability & Publicity Release within 30 days following the date of first attempted notification. Failure to comply within this time period may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. PRIZE RECIPIENT: will be solely responsible for paying all federal, state, and local taxes on prizes; if applicable, Winner may receive an IRS Form 1099 for the retail value of the prize.

Entrants agree that these Official Rules are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina.

DATA PRIVACY: Please see the privacy policy located at http://www.goldencorral.com/privacy/ for details of Sponsor’s policy regarding the use of personal information collected in connection with this Sweepstakes. 

WARRANTY AND INDEMNITY: Each Entrant certifies that they are the sole and exclusive owner of and rights holder to the submitted Entry, and that they have the right to submit the Entry in the Sweepstakes. Each Entrant agrees not to submit any Entry that (1) infringes any third party’s proprietary, intellectual property, industrial property, personal rights or other rights, including without limitation copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret or confidentiality obligation; or (2) otherwise violates applicable U.S. law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, each Entrant indemnifies and agrees to keep indemnified the Sponsor, its parent, subsidiaries, agents, directors, officers, employees, and representatives and assigns harmless at all times from and against any liability, claims, demands, losses, damages, costs and expenses resulting from any act, default or omission of the Entrant and/or a breach of any warranty set forth herein. To the maximum extent permitted by law, each Entrant indemnifies and agrees to keep indemnified the Sponsor, its parent, subsidiaries, agents, directors, officers, employees, representatives and assigns harmless at all times from and against any liability, actions, claims, demands, losses, damages, costs and expenses for or in respect to which the Sponsor will or may become liable by reason of or related or incidental to any act, default or omission by a participant under these Official Rules including without limitation resulting from or in relation to any breach, non-observance, act or omission whether negligent or otherwise, pursuant to these Official Rules by a Entrant.

DISQUALIFICATION: Any false information provided within the context of the Sweepstakes by any Entrant may result in the disqualification of the Entrant. Sponsor further reserves the right to disqualify any Entry that it believes at its sole and unfettered discretion infringes upon or violates the rights of any third party or otherwise does not comply with these Official Rules.

DISPUTES: This Sweepstakes is governed by the laws of the United States and the State of North Carolina, without respect to conflict of law doctrines.  As a condition of participating in this Sweepstakes, participants agree that any and all disputes which cannot be resolved between the parties, and causes of action arising out of or in connection with this Sweepstakes, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively before a court located in North Carolina having jurisdiction. Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances will participants be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waive all rights to claim punitive, incidental or consequential damages, including attorneys’ fees, and participant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased

INTERNET: Sponsor is not responsible for electronic transmission errors resulting in omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operations or transmission. Sponsor is not responsible for theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alterations of Entry materials, or for technical, network, telephone equipment, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions or limitations of any kind. Sponsor is not responsible for inaccurate transmissions of or failure to receive Entry information by Sponsor on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or any combination thereof, except to the extent that any death or personal injury is caused by the negligence of the Sponsor. If for any reason the Internet portion of the program is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, disruption or termination of the www.goldencorral.com/sweepstakes Website for any reason or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to immediately cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Sweepstakes. Sponsor reserves the right to select winners from eligible Entries received as of the termination date. Sponsor further reserves the right to disqualify any individual who tampers with the Entry process. Caution: Any attempt by an Entrant to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such Entrant to the fullest extent of the law.

If any provision(s) of these Official Rules are held to be invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions hereof will remain in full force and effect.

LANCE TRENARY

PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Lance Trenary began his restaurant career in his father’s restaurant at a young age, where he learned the value of guests and the people who serve them. Lance joined Golden Corral in 1986 as Partner Manager. After deciding to pursue a multiunit career with Golden Corral, he quickly rose through the system, holding leadership roles of increasing responsibility. He was named President and Chief Executive Officer in January 2015, leading America’s largest buffet and grill concept and becoming only the third person to hold this position in the brand’s 49-year history. This year marks Lance’s 36th year with Golden Corral.

Lance’s industry leadership includes his current role as Chair of the Board of Directors for the National Restaurant Association, as well as serving as a Trustee for the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. Lance also serves on the Executive Committee of the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association and is a former Chair (2016). He has chaired the Restaurant Industry Executive Council and served as a WFF CEO Advisory Council member.

Lance was the 2022 recipient of the highest honor in the restaurant industry, the IFMA Gold and Silver Plate Awards. In 2019, Lance was named the Restaurateur of the Year by NCRLA and was a past recipient of the Griff and June Glover Award for Distinguished Service. In addition, Lance was the recipient of the 2019 Chairman’s Award for the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation and was the National Restaurant Association’s 2020 Chairman’s Award recipient for outstanding leadership and contributions to the industry. He has also been named to the Society of Fellows of the Culinary Institute of America.

Committed to giving back, Lance served as a founding board member for Camp Corral, a summer camp for children of wounded or fallen military service members, and chaired the board in 2019. Lance also serves on the Founder’s Circle Advisory Board for Project Healing Waters, which is dedicated to physically and emotionally rehabilitating wounded or disabled military service personnel. He was honored by that organization with the Patriot Award for a lifelong commitment to our military veterans. In addition, he is a passionate supporter of ProStart for the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. He contributes time and resources to help young people explore career opportunities in the industry he loves. He makes supporting the development of the future leaders of the restaurant industry a personal priority.

Lance and his wife of 37 years, Paulette, have two adult daughters, Elizabeth and Ally-Catherine.

JIM LAVERTY

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Jim has been part of the Golden Corral family for over 41 years. In 2014, Jim was appointed Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration of Golden Corral and GC Cares. In his current role as the Chief Financial Officer of Golden Corral Corporation, Jim directs the Accounting and IT Departments and is responsible for the protection of the financial assets of the company, coordination of the company’s budget, financial forecasting for the strategic plan and maintaining the company’s records.

Jim graduated with a B.S. in Accounting from Penn State University in 1979.

He is an avid golfer and sports enthusiasts as well as an active member of his church family. Making their home in Cary, NC, Jim and his wife enjoy spending time with their children and their spouses as well as their grandchildren.

SHELLEY WOLFORD

CHIEF PEOPLE OFFICER

Shelley Wolford has worked in the hospitality industry for over 25 years.  She joined the extended leadership team at Golden Corral Corporation ten years ago, first as Vice President of National Marketing for six years, before moving into a senior leadership role as Senior Vice President of Strategy & Communications.  This year, Shelley’s role expanded to Chief People Officer, which includes leadership responsibility for Human Resources, while retaining her strategy and communications responsibilities. 

Shelley also dedicates time to advancing meaningful industry causes through her roles as Foundation Board Vice Chair for the North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association, Advisory Board member for the Multicultural Foodservice & Hospitality Alliance, and Advisory Council member for the Global Foodservice Hospitality Exchange.  In addition, she was recently appointed to the North Carolina Education and Workforce Innovation Commission to join educators and community leaders to ensure that the state has an effective and efficient workforce development system that meets the current and future needs of workers and businesses.

Shelley received her B.S. in Hotel and Food Administration from Boston University and an MBA from Georgetown University.  She lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, with her husband Denny and their dog Nutmeg.

PAUL “SKIP” HANKE

CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER

Skip Hanke joined Golden Corral Corporation as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) in 2021. Skip is responsible for Golden Corral’s National Marketing, Advertising, and Media Plan, as well as its Local Store Marketing and Off-Premise Business.  As CMO, Skip is also responsible for Food & Beverage / Culinary Innovation, Guest Insights, and Purchasing.

As a 4th Generation U.S.Navy Veteran, Skip achieved the rank of Lieutenant as a United States Naval Officer.

Skip holds both a BA in Economics with distinction from Duke University (cum laude) and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with distinction from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.  An avid golfer and sports fan, he lives in Cary, North Carolina.

DAVID CONKLIN

CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

David Conklin has worked in the hospitality industry for over 22 years.  He joined the Golden Corral Senior Leadership Team 8 years ago, first as the Senior Vice President of Development before being promoted to Chief Development Officer.  David leads our efforts for Company Growth and Brand Expansion, Innovation and Remodels.  He is responsible for Franchise Development, Real Estate, Construction and Coastal Equipment – Golden Corral’s equipment company.   He also dedicates time to the expansion of the hospitality industry and increasing visibility of the industry as a career path by supporting the East Carolina University School of Hospitality Leadership as an Advisory Board Member.

David received his both his B.A. in Legal Studies, and J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo.   He lives in the Raleigh, North Carolina area with his family.

CHAPPELL PHILLIPS

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT / GENERAL COUNSEL & SECRETARY

Chappell Phillips is the Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary of Golden Corral Corporation, leading the company’s Legal Department and overseeing all legal aspects of key strategic activities. He has been a member of the Senior Leadership Team since 2017, first as Senior Vice President before being promoted to Executive Vice President in 2021. He has also served as an officer of GC Cares since its inception in 2017. Prior to joining Golden Corral in 2013 as Assistant General Counsel, Chappell spent 18 years practicing in-house at various companies, including 11 years with Kimball International, a global manufacturer based in Indiana.

Chappell enjoys actively advocating for the interests of the restaurant industry as a member of the Board of Directors of the Restaurant Law Center, serving as Chairman from 2020 through 2022.

A native Tar Heel, Chappell received a BA in Latin American Studies and JD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Chappell is licensed to practice law in North Carolina. He and his wife Elaine live in Hillsborough, NC and have seven children and a dog Luna. Outside of work he enjoys time with family and church friends, playing pickleball, tennis, and basketball, and attending UNC basketball games.
